Sacrifices are the price of turning dreams into something real. Have you ever discovered a completely different dream while in the middle of chasing another?

Books are the biggest creative projects I've ever worked on and they are all dreams of a kind? And yes, it has happened many times that while working on one book project I've discovered a different idea, or a new question, that set me off in a different direction.

That's really interesting, Scott. Sometimes chasing one idea leads to new ones you never expected.

Two thoughts :)

This might only be tangentially related, but I just listened to Tim Ferris' interview of Brandon Sanderson (one of my favourite authors) and learned that he wrote something like 13 books before he published his first. He didn't write one, polish it, and send it into the world - he did years and years of writing - all the actual hard work - before putting something out. Here's the interview - it's long and really, really good: https://tim.blog/2025/02/05/brandon-sanderson/

And that Colin Hay song is one of my favourite songs ever. If I'm having even a moment of wondering what's happening in my life it will bring me to tears easily.
